Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install Collab on macOS?
Download the .dmg file from our download page. Open the .dmg and drag Collab to your Applications folder. On first launch, right-click the app and select "Open" since the app is ad-hoc signed. macOS 14.0 or later is required.
How do I invite collaborators?
Open a project and go to the Members section. Click "Invite" and enter the email address of your collaborator. You can assign roles — Owner, Admin, Member, or Viewer — to control what each person can do within the project.
What audio formats are supported?
Collab supports WAV, AIFF, MP3, FLAC, AAC, OGG, and MIDI files. Waveforms are generated automatically on upload. For best quality, we recommend uploading WAV or AIFF files. MIDI files are displayed in the piano roll viewer.
How does version compare work?
Every time you upload a new file to the same asset, it's saved as a new version. To compare two versions, open the asset and select "Compare" from the version dropdown. This opens a side-by-side view with synced playback, so you can A/B between any two revisions.
Can I use Collab offline?
Collab requires an internet connection for syncing projects, comments, and collaboration features. However, cached projects and assets are available for local playback. Full offline mode with sync-on-reconnect is on our roadmap.
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
Go to Settings in the Collab app and select "Subscription." From there, you can manage or cancel your Pro plan. Your Pro features will remain active until the end of your current billing period. No data is deleted when you downgrade.
What's the file size limit?
Individual file uploads are limited to 500 MB on the Free plan and 2 GB on Pro. Total storage is 2 GB for Free and 50 GB for Pro. If you need more storage, reach out to us — we're happy to work with teams that need extra capacity.
Is my audio data secure?
Yes. All audio files are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Files are stored in Cloudflare R2 with server-side encryption. Stem separation runs entirely on your device — your audio is never uploaded for processing. We do not access, analyze, or sell your audio data.
